On Monday 26 February 2007, the Co-op, which introduced the UK's first Fairtrade banana back in 2000, launched a Fairtrade version of Britain's favourite fruit in all its 3,000 food stores nationwide
Gencia had a limited budget and only 4 days to conceptualise, visualise and build an online element to add to the marketing mix for the launch of the Fairtrade banana marketing campaign.
Gencia's solution was the creation of an animated game that could be easily distributed via email and played online, with a humorous element to encourage players to pass on the link to friends. 'Make Baz Go Bananas' featured Baz the dancing monkey, and though lighthearted and fun, the viral email format distributed the news of the Co-op Fairtrade banana launch to thousands in a matter of hours
