UCLAN Undergraduate Prospectus CD-ROM UCLAN Video Production UCLAN Multimedia Summary

Background

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston is recognised as a leading edge university with excellent facilities. Having become one of the largest universities in the UK, with over 34,000 students, they realise that their Open Day plays a vital part in students' decision making.

Challenge

Research showed that UCLan were losing students to other universities for the simple reason they were unable to attend a UCLan open day. UCLan asked Gencia to find a cost effective method of showcasing what the university and the city of Preston have to offer.

Solution

Gencia researched current students on why they chose UCLan. From this Gencia created a series of video programs that were shown on plasma screens around the campus and included on an interactive CD ROM that was sent to prospects.

Gencia only had two weeks to complete the initial project and the project team spent time on campus talking to students, new and old, about their experiences at UCLan - the teaching facilities, staff, accommodation and student life in general. Since the initial project, we have also produced a promotional video for the Carlisle and Penrith campus, a 'Guide to UCLan' for prospective undergraduates and an International CD ROM, all of which include specific targeted videos, studio footage, voice overs and interactive campus maps.
