Manchester Monster Hunt

The Manchester Monster Hunt was an augmented reality concept created by the clever people at Gencia to see how we could apply the technology for fun. However, the concept was quickly picked up by The Printworks in Manchester who were looking for a unique way to engage with their tech-savvy audience.

The potential to engage with a younger audience and help drive footfall to leisure and entertainment venues quickly became clear when we started to discuss the project with the marketing team at The Printworks.

Using augmented reality on their phones, users were invited to hunt down various types of monsters around Manchester in the run-up to Halloween. The collected monsters were actually promotional offers that could be redeemed at the many venues within The Printworks, and as an extra sweetener, prizes from these venues were also available through playing the Monster Hunt.

It was a lot of fun for the team, creating the brand, the monsters and developing an online game based on the AR experience.
